I love movies, and in the age of streaming I especially value physical media. I have been fortunate enough to provide audio commentaries for a number of catalog titles from various home video labels. Below are links to purchase and a short sample of my commentary for the film.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow – (1981) Genuinely spooky TV movie about a small-town mob that murders a mentally challenged man, and covers up the crime. Then they start dying, one by one. But who’s doing the killing? Stars Charles Durning, Larry Drake, Jocelyn Brando, and Lane Smith. From VCI Entertainment, with fellow podcasters Amanda Reyes and Heath Holland.
Door-To-Door Maniac – (1961) Originally released as FIVE MINUTES TO LIVE, this crime thriller stars music legend Johnny Cash in his film debut. Johnny and another crook attempt to rob a bank by taking the bank manager’s wife hostage. Stars Cash, Vic Tayback, Cay Forester, and Ron Howard. From Film Masters, with fellow writer/podcaster Dan Budnik.
Hillbillys In A Haunted House – (1959) Infamous hybrid of country music jamboree and horror comedy, about some musicians who get stranded in a spooky old house. Music, laughs, and chaos ensues! Stars Lon Chaney Jr., Basil Rathbone, John Carradine, and Joi Lansing. From VCI Entertainment.
The Swiss Conspiracy – (1976) Zippy, fun action/thriller about a former U.S. Justice Department agent who gets called in to investigate when Swiss bank is blackmailed by a cadre of unknown crooks. Stars David Janssen, Senta Berger, and Ray Milland. From Film Masters, with fellow writer/podcaster Dan Budnik.
Horrors of the Black Museum – (1959) Producer Herman Cohen’s lurid, blood-soaked horror movie about a true crime author who goes a little too far in coming up with material for his books. A truly unique mix of old school horror movie iconography and the grimmer, almost nihilistic turn the genre would take in the 1960s. Stars Michael Gough, Shirley Anne Field, and Geoffrey Keen. I also designed the new flip cover. From VCI Entertainment.
The Gamblers – (1970) A charming little comedy/thriller about a team of card sharps that board a boat for Dubrovink and team up with another pair of crooks to fleece a wealthy Italian aristocrat. But who is conning who? Stars Don Gordon, the lovely Suzy Kendall, and the always fun Stuart Margolin. From VCI Entertainment.
